What a pleasure to walk through the doors and hear live music being played.
There, on the mezzanine floor of the entrance, a pianist was playing a grand piano.

Hide AdThe wonderful music floated through the building, stopping many people who either stood or sat to listen, classical, modern, some jazz – wonderful stuff.
It turned out to be Robert Weatherburn at the piano, and he is well known for his extraordinary affinity with the piano – he makes the piano sing.
I spoke to him about an hour later and he told me that this live music in the hospital is organised by Richard Wray, a retired member of staff.
What a wonderful thing to do!
Live music throughout the week – most weeks – with different musicians playing on a splendid modern grand piano. Music that lifts the spirits of all who have, for one reason or another, to visit the hospital, either as a patient or to visit friends.
